The DeKalb FBLA chapter competed in districts at Northwest Missouri State University on February 8, 2018. Ten students went on the trip to districts this year.
Senior Cole Wildhagen was the only one to advance to state out of the 10 students who went on the trip.
Wildhagen’s event was in cyber security. Those in that event had to take online tests.
“I can’t wait to compete at state level in the next coming weeks,” Wildhagen said.
There were many students who went to districts this year and competed. FBLA Adviser Marina Hayner was excited with all who competed.
“We had a really good amount that went this year,” Hayner said.
Some of the events that the Tigers participated in were social media campaign, public speaking, and cyber security.
Junior Rian Goddard thought doing an event was a great opportunity.
“I thought it was pretty cool to do this, until I got nervous and messed up,” Goddard said.
All who went to districts were able to hear Captain Tim Finley, a 17-year combat-decorated Air Force Veteran, speak about courageous leadership.
Senior Caleb Smith was very moved by his speech.
“It was very inspirational to meet this guy,” Smith said.
