FBLA at Dekalb High School has gone through many changes this year.
New DHS business teacher Marina Hayner is also the new FBLA advisor this year. Since Hayner has taken on the position of adviser, FBLA has done many activities so far this year. They have done a popsocket fundraiser, Veterans Day slideshow, and World Kindness Day notes. FBLA is also preparing for districts.
Many of these new activities have been planned by the FBLA officers and the adviser.
“Ms. Hayner came up with the ideas, but all of the officers contributed and helped put them together,” FBLA Chapter President Elizabeth Gunter said.
FBLA is planning on doing a mitten drive in January as the community service portion of Court Warming. Hayner is also planning on taking the officers to district meetings over the summer.
“Overall I want to grow the program and make it more about community service,” Hayner said.
The FBLA members have enjoyed all of the activities they have done so far this year.
“I liked the Veterans Day slideshow because all of the veterans were moved and it was meaningful,” FBLA Vice President of Communications Jessica Janorschke said.
