The emergence of spring like weather is always reenergizing for the elementary. The kids are enjoying the fresh air and of course have reintroduced their shorts and t-shirts! We currently have 169 students enrolled in grades K-6. Our preschool program has 20 students.
Mrs. Paden, our counselor, coordinated a trip to Arrowhead Stadium for students in grades 2-6 in December. They learned about the history of the Chiefs and Lamar Hunt’s role in the AFL/NFL. They had a tour of the Stadium including the locker room and were able to step on the sidelines to get a field view of the stadium. They concluded with a visit to the Sports Lab. Each class chose a restaurant in Platte City for lunch. We were all very proud of our students and their behaviors throughout the day.
Third quarter statistics: Forty-one percent of our fifth graders were on an honor roll and 29% of our sixth graders were on an honor roll. Even though we have been hit hard with illness lately, 55% of our K-6th grade students earned attendance honors for the second quarter. All but 3 of our families attended third quarter conferences.
Congratulations to our students for their efforts in our annual spelling bee. The winners were:
3rd & 4th | 5th & 6th | |
1st Place | Tori Hawk | Brayden Bowen |
2nd Place | Patricia Simpson | Rylie Johnson |

Good luck to Tori and Braedyn as they will represent our building at the 275 Conference Spelling Bee on March 29.
